John Rodger Gray was born on 9 January 1913 . His father was a master butcher. He entered the University of Glasgow aged 17 and was a student from 1930-1934 . The identification of the author of these notes is not certain. There is one letter within volume 6 addressed to Dr Cunnison, but without a comparison of handwriting it has not possible to assign these notes to Dr Cunnison.
